The purpose of this presentation is to familiarize providers
of family planning with information on injectable contraceptives.
The first section contains general introductory information
about injectable contraceptives. The second and third sections
cover progestin-only injectables. The fourth section focuses
on combined injectable contraceptives while the last section
provides information on providing injectables.
Items found on activity pages in the Self-Study Contents section
correspond to the slide activities in Presenter Notes found
in the Presenter Tools section. They contain activities and
discussion questions that you may wish to use with your audience.
Including some or all of these elements can help your presentation
become more interactive, enhancing the learning process. In
some cases when activities are used, you may find that slides
covering the same material may be omitted.
Whether or not you include the participatory activities, be
sure to familiarize yourself with the contents prior to your
presentation.
At the beginning of the presentation, inform your audience
about the organization of your presentation and how you would
like to structure the discussion (i.e., take questions during
the presentation or wait until the end). If you plan to include
participatory activities, make sure your audience is aware of
this. Depending on how much information you decide to use, you
may want to break the presentation into two or more sessions.
In its entirety, the presentation takes 90 to 120 minutes to
complete without the participatory activities and three to four
hours when they are included.
