...barrier Methods
can be effective...
...but for them to be effective,
they must
be used!
|
|
Barrier methods need to be available in all family planning
programs in a variety of delivery sites. For individual users
of barrier methods, the most important thing to remember is
to use them consistently and correctly. This requires good counseling,
instruction and user motivation. Barrier methods are the only
contraceptive methods recommended for prevention of STDs. And,
if used correctly in every act of intercourse, barrier methods
are also highly effective at preventing pregnancy. But, for
them to be effective, they must be used.
