The male plastic condom has many of the same characteristics
of the latex condom, including the degree of protection against
STDs. However, it has some important differences. The plastic
condoms are thinner and stronger. They are generally made larger,
so they are less constrictive. Some designs allow greater sensitivity
during use than latex condoms. The material is more stable.
They maintain their strength over time and are not as likely
to break down when exposed to light or high temperatures. They
also will not break down when used with oil-based lubricants,
which is important in countries where water-based lubricants
are not easily available.
