As we have discussed, clients with HIV have reproductive health
choices that are similar to clients who are not infected.
Clients with HIV may be planning their families by evaluating
their contraceptive options or considering the advantages
and disadvantages of having a child.
The role of the provider is to offer the counselling and
support that clients with HIV need to ensure that they
can make informed
choices that take into account the impact that HIV disease
can have on these types of decisions.
In this section, we will briefly discuss the essential
counselling skills that providers need, the main counselling
points providers
should address while helping clients with HIV make informed
decisions related to their reproductive health, and the
minimum program requirements to ensure that high-quality
services
can be delivered.
