Operating under the Tanzania President's OfficePlanning and Privatization, YouthNet/Tanzania began in December 2003. It currently works in Dar es Salaam and Iringa regions and will expand to the Morogoro region in 2005.
To date, YouthNet/Tanzania has reached more than half a million youth and more than 200,000 community members with behavior change messages on abstinence, faithfulness, stigma reduction, healthy living, gender equity, and youth participation. In addition, more than 2,000 youth and adults have been trained in issues related to youth reproductive health and HIV prevention.
YouthNet/Tanzania is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. Primary funding comes through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and is complemented by population funds from the USAID/Tanzania Mission.
