As the HIV/AIDS pandemic continues to grow, it is increasingly urgent to implement an expanded and comprehensive response (ECR). Leaders of nations and other stakeholders recognize this pressing need and are calling for expanded programs for both communities and individuals.
Many countries have begun to
scale-up their delivery of interventions and programs to reach more individuals, improving coverage and the range of interventions available. HIV/AIDS programming is becoming more complex. The interventions that are needed form a
continuum of prevention, care and support services.
An ECR aims to ensure quality of these services, improve accountability systems, and increase the range of interventions and programs delivered to populations not currently served.
Our leadership role in assisting countries with ECR draws upon the global thinking and consultation described in our eight-module
Strategies for an Expanded and Comprehensive Response (ECR) to a National HIV/AIDS Epidemic: A Handbook for Designing and Implementing HIV/AIDS Programs.

ECR Handbook here.
