FHI's health economists study costs to evaluate the financial sustainability of health service programs in developing countries. We also explore ways to improve the use of existing resources, generate local income, and reduce reliance on external funding.
Our economic research shows how resources can be used more effectively. This helps us evaluate the impact new products and services have on HIV and family planning programs. This research also helps FHI and donors assess the feasibility and cost effectiveness of pilot interventions and make informed decisions about potential scale-up.
