A CD-ROM accompanies the Training and Reference Guides and provides additional information on all four screening checklists, allowing the facilitator to enhance the training for a variety of participant groups. The CD-ROM contains the following materials.
- Suggested schedule (PDF, 70 KB): This sample agenda provides a suggested schedule for a nine-hour training workshop on all four checklists and may be adapted by the workshop presenter.
- Two PowerPoint presentations are provided to help orient different audiences on the checklists:
- Presentation A: How to Use Screening Checklists to Initiate Use of Contraceptives (for facilitators, Powerpoint – 1.53 MB or PDF – 239 KB)
- Presentation B: How to Use Screening Checklists to Initiate Use of Contraceptives (for policy-makers and program managers, Powerpoint – 434 KB or PDF – 162 KB)
- The following handouts can be used during the workshop:
- Scenario Exercises for Participants (COC – PDF, 81 KB; DMPA – PDF, 79 KB; IUD – PDF, 81 KB; Pregnancy – PDF, 76 KB): These scenarios are part of an exercise designed to help participants become comfortable using the provider checklists. They can be printed and distributed to participants during the third session of the training workshop.
- Answer Guide to Scenarios (COC – PDF, 148 KB; DMPA – PDF, 183 KB; IUD – PDF, 217 KB; Pregnancy – PDF, 132 KB): These handouts provide answers to all the scenarios. They can be printed ahead of time for distribution after workshop participants have completed the scenario exercises.
- Quick Reference Chart: Produced by FHI, this chart is based on the World Health Organization's Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use (2004). It serves as an "at-a-glance" job aid for providers as they determine whether clients with certain medical conditions may safely initiate or continue using COCs, DMPA (or NET-EN), or the copper IUD.
- Four Screening Checklists: Facilitators may print out any or all of the four checklists as needed for use by their participants during the training sessions.
- Certificate of Attendance (PDF, 47 KB): This sample certificate can be adapted and printed for workshop participants to take home as a record of their successful participation and completion of the checklist training.
- Electronic versions of four Training and Reference Guides.
- Basic, essential, evidence-based information on COCs, DMPA, and IUDs: The first two documents below will help service providers understand the criteria that formed the basis of the checklist content. PowerPoint presentations C, D, and E provide brief overviews of COCs, injectables, and the IUD and are designed to refresh or update service providers' knowledge of these contraceptive methods. Powerpoint presentation F addresses special issues that need to be considered when providing contraception to women living with HIV or AIDS.
