Short-acting hormonal contraceptive methods are the major way developing world women space births, but their discontinuation rates are quite high. This interagency workshop organized by Family Health International and the ACQUIRE Project explored how best to improve their continuation. These proceedings summarize research on contraceptive discontinuation, knowledge gaps, and proposed interventions to improve continuation rates that were discussed by some 50 consultation participants from 15 reproductive health research, service delivery, training, and communication organizations, as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
