World AIDS Day 2008

Supporting Local Leadership, Keeping the Promise

World AIDS Day 2008

DECEMBER 2008 — Family Health International keeps its promise every day to help stop AIDS. We do this by helping build local leadership worldwide to support individuals, communities, and countries who want to take charge of their own response to the problem.

As in years past, FHI's 40 country offices are participating in events to commemorate World AIDS Day: parades, awareness campaigns, media events, and volunteer support to local anti-AIDS efforts. Collectively, FHI and its staff and partners play a leading role in raising awareness about the epidemic and harnessing the resources needed to end it.

This year, we'd like to commemorate World AIDS Day online with four stories of local leadership that have emerged from our programs in China, India, and Tanzania.
