Translation Alert: ƯỚC TÍNH VÀ DỰ BÁO NHIỄM HIV/AIDS TẠI VIỆT NAM nãm 2007 - 2012 Vietnamese (3.8 MB, 54 pages) JULY 2009 — Despite successful HIV/AIDS prevention and control programs implemented since HIV was first detected in Vietnam in 1990, new infections continue, especially among groups who are at greatest risk of infection. To support improved program planning, Vietnam's Ministry of Health has been conducting HIV/AIDS estimates and projections since 2003, in collaboration with national and international partners. Vietnam HIV/AIDS Estimates and Projections 2007-2012 is the result of a second round of data analysis. With funding from USAID/PEPFAR, FHI/Vietnam played a major technical role in the production of this publication by analyzing data and preparing the report. The publication provides current HIV/AIDS data, projections to 2012, and information on the methodologies used to create national and regional projections that apply to the whole population as well as to groups most at risk of contracting HIV. Though the number of new infections remains a challenge, good data estimates and planning will enable Vietnam's Ministry of Health and its partners to provide needed care for people living with HIV.
