AUGUST 2006 — This series of integrated bio-behavioral surveys, conducted by New ERA with technical support from FHI/Nepal and funding from USAID, measured the prevalence of HIV and STIs among female sex workers, migrant workers, and truck drivers in various regions of Nepal. Variables associated with a risk of HIV infection, such as condom use, sexual behaviors, knowledge of HIV and AIDS, exposure to messages about HIV and AIDS, reported cases of STIs, STI treatment behavior, and drug habits were also examined. In addition, findings for condom use and sexual behavior were compared to results from previous rounds of IBBS in Nepal.
