JUNE 2008 — FHI conducted a behavioral monitoring survey (BMS) on HIV, AIDS, and STIs between June and November 2007 in Kenya's Rift Valley and Coast provinces, where FHI is implementing the AIDS, Population and Health Integrated Assistance (APHIA) II project.
The survey collected baseline data on knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of target populations: in-school and out-of-school youth, men at work sites, police, truck drivers, female sex workers, and women in households in low-income settings.
This report summarizes and analyzes the data collected, and is the first in a series to be conducted over the life of the APHIA II project.
Tracking trends through BMS surveys helps FHI, implementing partners, and stakeholders continuously improve the program design, implementation, and evaluation.
