Communication Needs Assessment in Maharashtra is one of five preparatory studies conducted for the AVERT project for providing inputs into the strategic planning to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS in Maharashtra.

These studies were conducted in the Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Sangli districts of Maharashtra, and included:

  • Major commercial sex access points
  • Risk behaviors of key target groups
  • The quality of STI/HIV health care facilities
  • Condom supply and communication needs of the people.

These studies were funded by USAID through FHI, and conducted by premier national research agencies with technical assistance from FHI.
