The need for more comprehensive and effective care and support for people affected by HIV is a concern of all of us working to build vital linkages between HIV prevention and care services to reduce the impact of AIDS. In order to better understand the extent of service provision in Addis Ababa, their quality and the challenges service providers face, and how to enable services to function within referral networks, an HIV/AIDS care and support service assessment was conducted.

This care & support service assessment looked at how people working at service management and coordination level organize their work, what guidelines they use, training they give to service providers, and the needs they identify to be able to function optimally. The care and support service assessment also looked at the service provider level, giving us a picture of what they do and what they need to function well.

This HIV/AIDS care & support service assessment was conducted by Family Health International and the Addis Ababa Health Bureau in collaboration with several other partners in the response to AIDS in Addis Ababa. This HIV/AIDS Care & Support Service Assessment is one of five assessments conducted in Addis Ababa to inform efforts for an expanded and comprehensive response to AIDS in the region. Funding for these assessments was received from USAID and CDC.
