A new film funded by USAID is reaching millions of Nigerians in Kano State with important anti-AIDS messages.
The romantic film, Awakening, was filmed in the bustling, dusty city of Kano in one of the northern Nigerian states adhering to strict Islamic law, Shariah. The film is aimed at youthful audiences and dares to talk openly about risky sexual behavior and the potential consequences of HIV/AIDS.
