AUGUST 2009 — The HIV and AIDS and Treatment Literacy: Namibia Survey 2008 surveyed healthcare workers, people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV), and children of HIV and AIDS support group members on clinical issues such as treatment provision, adherence, access to and information on antiretroviral therapy, and attitudes of healthcare workers. The survey also monitored social issues such as support for PLHIV, condom use, status disclosure, and positive living. The survey sought information from children of PLHIV on their priorities and concerns and their knowledge of their HIV status and that of their parents. The study highlights the importance of social support groups and accurate information dissemination for PLHIV and their families.
