AUGUST 2007 — In Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Implementing AIDS Prevention and Care (IMPACT) Project focused on strategic information, control of sexually transmitted infections, behavior change communication, and prevention interventions among the highest risk populations for HIV infection in four provinces. The project also opened wellness centers for sex workers; supported a condom social marketing program; and built local capacity in a variety of areas, including field surveillance, laboratory specimen collection and diagnosis, STI case management, outreach skills, audience-centered communication, data management, and data analysis.
