OCTOBER 2007 — Through the Implementing AIDS Care and Treatment (IMPACT) Project between the late 1990s and 2005, FHI led initiatives to reduce risk and change behavior; enhance prevention, care, and treatment services; and strengthen monitoring and evaluation systems in Honduras. Many activities focused on reaching populations at greatest risk for acquiring and transmitting HIV, and IMPACT/Honduras helped prepare a bio-behavioral surveillance survey that was to be implemented by the US Centers for Disease Control. The project also supported the Honduras HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan, and collaborated with a local umbrella NGO, the Ministry of Health, and others to coordinate workshops and foster dialogue on HIV/AIDS and policy in Honduras.
