JULY 2007 The goals of the USAID-funded Implementing AIDS Prevention and Care (IMPACT) Project in the Philippines were to improve the country's management of STIs and HIV/AIDS by increasing the availability, quality, and demand for STI services and generating quality monitoring data. To these ends, the project was a staunch partner of the National AIDS/STI Prevention and Control ProgramDepartment of Health, and its activities resulted in revisions to national STI guidelines; the production of reliable data for decisionmaking and sustained, evidence-based interventions; reductions in STI prevalence; and an improved health delivery system.
