JULY 2007 — In this report, FHI/Kenya Country Director Peter Mwarogo provides an overview the IMPACT Project's strategic behavioral communication program, covering its design, the role of peer educators, the value of radio campaigns and theater outreach and mural activities, the design and implementation of campaigns to promote voluntary counseling and testing, and the results of monitoring and evaluation activities. Among the key recommendations were the following:
  • A national-level working group should build linkages between communication campaigns at national, district, and community levels.
  • Peer educator training should be standardized with a uniform curriculum and quality assurance procedures.
  • Communication programming should better reflect the comprehensive response to HIV and AIDS.
