The Uniformed Services HIV/AIDS Peer Leadership Guide is a manual for developing HIV/AIDS programs for uniformed services groups.

The guide is divided into four sections, offering practical advice and functional examples for developing programs:

  • "Planning Peer Leadership" helps program planners and policy-makers develop and manage a peer leadership program.
  • "Preparing Peer Leaders" offers reference materials to be used for training of the peer leaders.
  • "Understanding HIV/AIDS" contains reference materials to be used as background for training of peer leaders, covering the basics of HIV, AIDS, STIs and condoms.
  • "Group Participatory Exercises" includes most of the group exercises used during training sessions.

Because there are some behaviors and lifestyles that are common to almost all uniformed services in all countries, Uniformed Services is designed to be adapted to individual country needs.

The Uniformed Services Guide was developed as part of the Uniformed Services Task Force on HIV/AIDS (USTF), formerly called the Working Group on HIV/AIDS for Uniformed Services. The task force is an informal coalition of individuals and organizations working to meet the expanding need of  HIV/AIDS programs for uniformed services around the global.
