DECEMBER 2007 — Learning about Healthy Living describes entertaining games and activities successfully used by outreach workers in Laos to engage sex workers in open discussion about HIV/AIDS, STIs, and reproductive health. The manual—currently available only in electronic format in English—provides guidance for conducting prevention education activities with sex workers. It also shows how complex reproductive health and HIV prevention information can be successfully presented by outreach volunteers who, in many cases, develop their own materials. Units cover such topics as “our bodies,” HIV/STI transmission, managing money, negotiating condom use, and others.
