Research

Family Health International's (FHI) family planning and reproductive health program in Thailand has a 30-year history of responding to local needs and collaborating with a network of interested and experienced investigators to evaluate the safety, efficacy and acceptability of family planning methods. FHI has conducted contraceptive studies focused on IUDs, sterilization, oral contraceptives, injectables, barrier methods, breastfeeding and natural family planning. FHI also has conducted studies to assess the possible relationship between family planning and STI prevention.

More Research Highlights

  • FHI provides clinical and biomedical technical support to the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) in its efforts to determine the safety and effectiveness of several treatments for patients with malaria.

  • We are spearheading a campaign that brings together researchers, policy-makers, program managers, and women's advocates working in the HIV and reproductive health fields to disseminate new scientific data and discuss the possible program and policy implications. The campaign also highlights the importance of family planning in the HIV/AIDS era.

  • FHI is providing regulatory, operations, and communications support to the Southeast Asia Influenza Clinical Research Network (SEA ICRN) in the preparation and implementation of a randomized clinical trial in Southeast Asia.
