FHI/Pakistan's strategic goal is to help the country's National AIDS Control Program (NACP) maintain the current low HIV/AIDS prevalence rate. FHI/Pakistan works to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS by developing programs that target adolescence and youth engaging in high-risk behavior. FHI/Pakistan further supports the NACP in the collection and dissemination of high-quality data to monitor the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the effectiveness of prevention and care programs.

FHI Leads IMPACT Project in Pakistan |
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) supports FHI/Pakistan through the IMPACT Project. FHI's IMPACT Project activities support USAID's mission in Pakistan to increase:
- Nongovernmental organizations (NGO) involvement in targeted HIV prevention interventions among vulnerable youth populations
- NGO and the NACP capacity to implement quality HIV/AIDS programs
- quality and availability of HIV/AIDS/STI surveillance data for decision-making
FHI/Pakistan established a grants program to reach these goals. FHI funds NGOs to create targeted behavior change interventions for youth at risk in selected cities. FHI includes IA capacity building in the program, as is technical assistance for Second Generation Surveillance data gathering.

Behavior Change Communication Strategy |
FHI/Pakistan adopts a behavior change communication (BCC) strategy focusing on adolescence and youth to help Pakistan maintain its low HIV/AIDS prevalence rate. To reach the target youth groups, FHI/Pakistan uses BCC as the most important tool, especially during this early stage of the country's epidemic and its HIV/AIDS prevention programs.
