US Ambassador Visits FHI/Nepal

FEBRUARY 2007 — US Ambassador to Nepal Nancy J. Powell visited FHI/Nepal-supported sites in Pokhara, Western Region, Jan. 17. She was accompanied by FHI/Nepal Country Director Jackie McPherson and officials from USAID/Nepal. Ambassador Powell met with representatives from two major beneficiary group networks: the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal (NAP+N) and Recovering Nepal, a network for recovered and current drug users. She also visited three FHI/Nepal project sites, including two clinics, and attended interaction meetings with community mobilizers and peer educators. Fluent in Nepali, the Ambassador also held a brief discussion with a group of people who are living with HIV and accessing FHI-supported home-based care services.
