Secretary Leavitt's delegation included U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator Ambassador Mark Dybul, MD; USAID Assistant Administrator for Global Health Kent Hill, PhD, US Malaria Coordinator Tim Ziemer, and Director of the HHS Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Julie Gerberding, MD.

On a 10-day tour of four African countries, the delegation reviewed programs funded by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the President's Malaria Initiative.
