The Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service, along with FHI experts and partners, has released updated national guidelines in the use of blood and blood products for Kenya.

Guidelines for the Appropriate Use of Blood and Blood Products details proper administration and the provision of blood products and services, specifically the transfusion of blood, throughout the country.

The 28-page booklet offers practical tips and guidelines for clinicians, healthcare provision professionals, and stakeholders in safe and effective administration of blood, including guidelines for:

• Appropriate transfusion practice
• Use of red blood cell products
• Plasma transfusion
• Platelet transfusion
