FHI Jordan Convenes Gender Training
JULY 2006 — FHI/Jordan convened a "Gender and HIV/AIDS Training" in Amman July 3-5 to examine the role of gender in HIV/AIDS programs, services and policy. Participants from the Ministry of Health, NGOs, and FBOs learned more about gender, its effect on HIV/AIDS, ways to improve gender norms, and ways to reduce inequality between men and women.

FHI/Jordan Convenes Private Sector Roundtable
MARCH 2006 — FHI coordinated the first meeting in Jordan to examine the role of the private sector in the Jordanian national response to HIV and AIDS. Business and labor union leaders learned about HIV and AIDS, the proposed national strategy to confront the epidemic and how businesses worldwide have responded. Participants spoke with leaders from Jordan's National AIDS Program and local nongovernmental organizations that implement workplace interventions.

FHI/Jordan Observes World AIDS Day
DECEMBER 2005 — The official World AIDS Day celebration took place in Aqaba, though several cities in Jordan recognized the day. Governmental officials, USAID representatives and a student addressed attendees and participated in an open discussion with the audience.

Iraqi Health Officials Visit Jordan to Learn About AIDS Programming
AUGUST 2005 — Officials from Iraq's Ministry of Health participated in an HIV counseling and testing workshop conducted in Amman, Jordan, by the Implementing AIDS Prevention and Care (IMPACT) Project. The workshop was one of several activities during a week-long study tour to share lessons learned in developing basic HIV/AIDS services and national strategic plans.

Youth in Jordan Speak Out about AIDS
JANUARY 2004 — FHI has trained nearly 50 university students to teach other students about HIV and AIDS. The students will lead discussion groups and workshops at universities throughout the country, exploring sensitive topics such as sexuality, HIV/AIDS and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS.
