FHI Works with Partners to Improve the Health and Well-being of Jamaican Young People

In Jamaica, FHI is working with local partners to build the capacity of Jamaican youth-oriented nongovernmental organizations and government agencies. We are also helping develop a new parenting curriculum meant to increase parents' knowledge and confidence levels so that they can better communicate with their adolescents about sexual and reproductive health, violence prevention, drug use, and HIV/AIDS.

Promoting Contraception over Emergency Contraception Among Women Who Wish to Delay Pregnancy

In partnership with local stakeholders, FHI researchers are studying whether coupons that discount the cost of regular contraceptive pills provide women who use emergency contraception an incentive to instead adopt a regular, reliable contraceptive method.

FHI Publishes IMPACT Project Final Report for Jamaica

FEBRUARY 2007  — From October 1998 to September 2005 the Implementing AIDS Prevention and Care (IMPACT) Project, managed by Family Health International, helped Jamaican partner organizations improve the reproductive health of youth. Project activities included an evaluation of adolescent health interventions, a Behavioral Surveillance Survey (BSS) for vulnerable groups and an assessment of public health sector sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinics.
