Executive Summary to Guyana Behavioural Surveillance Survey Published

SEPTEMBER 2006 — Until recently there have been little data available to track the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Guyana, other than HIV/AIDS case reports and a few small seroprevalence surveys. This executive summary contains the findings of the BSS and BBSS commissioned by the Ministry of Health to help address that gap.

FHI/Guyana Contributes to Behavior Change Communication Strategy

GSIP ReportMARCH 2005 — FHI/Guyana and Initiatives, Inc. designed and implemented a behavior change communication strategy for the Guyana Safer Injections Project. The project works with healthcare providers and patients to reduce the risk of HIV by eliminating unnecessary injections and improving sharps disposal.

FHI/Guyana Launches PMTCT Educational Campaign

thumbnail graphicFEBRUARY 2005 — FHI/Guyana has launched a campaign focusing on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) in Guyana. The campaign offers a first-of-its-kind set of materials to promote good PMTCT behaviors. The materials include a set of cue cards to support client-provider interaction around PMTCT. The cards highlight specific moments when stigma and discrimination should be discussed. Other materials in the campaign include a take-home brochure, a button, and several posters.
