Guatemala STI Training Center

JUNE 2004 — With the goal of building technical capacity in the Guatemalan Ministry of Health, FHI worked in coordination with ministry leaders to create a National Training Center for STI Care and Treatment.

The center is located within the only STI health center in the country. The center provided doctors and other health professionals the opportunity to become more familiar with STI issues and receive further training in identification and treatment through practice with patients.

FHI supported this initiative by training health professionals at the center and provided the necessary equipment in order for the center to meet its goals.

FHI also worked with the Guatemalan Ministry of Health (MSPAS) to establish a national protocol for STI care and treatment.
