Eritrea Releases 2003 Sentinel Surveillance Report
The Eritrean Ministry of Health (MOH) released the study HIV Prevention Impact in Eritrea: Results from the 2003 Round of HIV Sentinel Surveillance. The report details basic health, sociodemographic data and test results of anonymous blood samples taken from 4,651 pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) sites for the first time during a current pregnancy. The blood samples were tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. MOH study leaders used the data to estimate HIV prevalence in the general adult population of the country.

BCC Network Meeting Report Released
The BCC Network for HIV/AIDS: First Regional Meeting for East, Central and Southern Africa: Renewed Emphasis on Behaviour Change Communication for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care report is an overview of proceedings from a regional BCC meeting held on November 3-6, 2003, in Kampala, Uganda. The report is intended to serve as a resource and learning document for meeting participants, as well as for other practitioners. BCC Network covers emerging BCC issues, including planning and programming, developing care and treatment programs, addressing stigma, and youth.
