IMPACT/Egypt Project, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Firstly, IMPACT launched Egypt's first anonymous VCT site for HIV/AIDS in Cairo. The remaining World AIDS Day activities in Egypt were planned by the Expanded Theme Group for HIV/AIDS, which includes the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), UN organizations and NGOs working in the field of HIV/AIDS in Egypt. Activities around World AIDS Day included 39 radio programs on nine stations and various TV programs raising awareness on HIV/AIDS and promoting World AIDS Day events. IMPACT/Egypt also participated in the distribution of printed materials and competitions among community members.
All of these events culminated in a free musical concert open to the public at Al Azhar Park in Cairo. Roughly 2,500 people attended the concert and were treated to a musical event featuring stars including Khaled Selim, Simone and Habayebna.
