FHI worked in the Dominican Republic from 1998 to 2008, beginning with the USAID-funded IMPACT Project that ended in 2004. In May 2003, FHI began work on the USAID-funded CONECTA Project, which helped the Government of the Dominican Republic to overhaul and strengthen its HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and child survival programming and expand successful interventions in the areas of HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, immunization, and community water systems.

FHI Leads CONECTA Project in Dominican Republic
MAY 2003 — FHI was awarded a five-year, $35 million contract from USAID to assist in overhauling and strengthening the Dominican Republic's HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and child survival programming. FHI teamed with two main partners, Abt Associates, Inc., and the Dominican Agencia Latinoamericana de Expertos en Planificacion H (ALEPH) to complete the project.
