FHI in Côte d'Ivoire
Through the IMPACT Project, FHI is providing technical assistance to the national government and local organizations to strengthen systems and programs for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), home-based and palliative care (HBC/PC), and public-private partnerships.
Recently, FHI was awarded a bilateral contract from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to manage the rapid expansion of HIV/AIDS activities by several national Ivoirian nongovernmental organizations (NGO) serving highly vulnerable populations (HVP) in Cote d'Ivoire.
The new CDC project aims to reduce HIV and STI rates in HVP by expanding the reach and quality of services, building the capacity of local NGOs providing HVP services, and increasing coordination among NGOs.
Nationally, FHI/Côte d'Ivoire works with the Ministry of Solidarity, Security, Social Affairs and Disabled Persons, local AIDS service organizations - such as Clinique de Confiance, Centre Esperance, and the Centre d'Assistance Medical et Social, faith-based hospitals - and national and local governments.
