Caribbean Regional Program

Family Health International and USAID created the Caribbean Regional Program to enhance the Caribbean's response to HIV/AIDS by increasing the capacity of nongovernmental and community-based organizations to deliver HIV/AIDS prevention and care services.

To achieve this goal, the Caribbean Regional Program hired a local coordinator in each of the target countries, including St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad.

Other Programs in the Caribbean

FHI's Caribbean Regional Program also supported the Jamaica-based ASHE "edu-tainment" model for working with youth, parents, and educators to include sexual and reproductive health messages in education and communication aimed at youth in these six countries and in the Bahamas and Barbados.

The Caribbean Regional Program provided training for NGOs in strategic planning, financial management, and small grants activities to implement programs and manage funds.  Our HIV/AIDS programming involved people living with HIV/AIDS at all levels, and included workshops on stigma and discrimination and youth-adult partnerships.
