
Leading a Community Response to HIV/AIDS in Burundi
FEBRUARY 2008 — In 2007, RBP+ entered into a partnership with the ROADS Project to strengthen its capacity and reach. Within a year the organization transformed itself. PLHA in Kirundo are no longer simply clients of health services: they are partners with three provincial health centers regularly consulted on how PLHA programs can be improved, serving as essential outreach volunteers to the broader PLHA community, and accompanying PLHA as advocates in discussions with clinic staff.

FHI Makes an IMPACT in Burundi
Through the IMPACT Project, FHI collaborated with the Burundi national government and several national NGOs to strengthen systems for voluntary counseling and testing, care and support, monitoring and evaluation, and surveillance.

FHI Trains Doctors and Nurses in Burundi
MAY 2004 — At the end of April, 22 physicians and 37 nurses were trained in FHI's new comprehensive Care and Treatment program, also known as the ART/OI curriculum. Two facilitators from the Institute of Tropical Medicine facilitated the intensive, four-day training.

BCC Network Meeting Report Released
DECEMBER 2003 — BCC Network for HIV/AIDS: First Regional Meeting for East, Central and Southern Africa —Renewed Emphasis on Behaviour Change Communication for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care is an overview of proceedings from a regional BCC meeting held in November. BCC Network covers BCC-related topics, including planning and programming, developing care and treatment programs, addressing stigma, and youth.
