OCTOBER 2004 — Bearing in mind the great importance of STD/AIDS handling at Family Health Programs in Brazil, the Associação Saúde da Família - together with Family Health International, the Municipal Health Department of São Paulo, support of the Zerbini Foundation and resources from the Elton John AIDS Foundation decided to publish the book AIDS: Prevention Door to Door – Creating Stories on the Prevention of HIV/AIDS in the Family Health Program in the City of São Paulo.

Since 2000, the Associação Saúde da Família, together with the Public Sector and the Zerbini Foundation has been implementing joint actions along with primary health care for AIDS prevention in the Sapopemba and Vila Prudente districts.

Envisioning the democratization of the health professionals'
experiences within the family health Program on HIV/AIDS in São Paulo and throughout Brazil, the Associação Saúde da Família was granted resources from the Elton John AIDS Foundation for the publishing of the book.

Written mainly by community health agents, this book describes innovative and creative interventions regarding HIV/AIDS prevention within their communities.
