Asia Regional Program

FHI has worked in Asia to implement USAID's Regional Development Mission Asia regional program (RDM/A) since 1993. FHI delivers services and helps community-based organizations and NGOs improve the services they provide for the prevention, care, and treatment of HIV. FHI also conducts health research, including treatment and prevention trials intended to reduce the burden of severe human and avian influenza, testing of a drug to treat adult and pediatric malaria, and study of a promising rotavirus vaccine that could significantly reduce diarrhea-related illness among children. Regional Programs

USAID's Regional Development Mission Asia (RDM/A) has contracted FHI to deliver services under the regional Technical Support for HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Treatment Program. This program provides country-specific technical assistance in China, Lao PDR, Papua New Guinea, and Thailand. The project also

  • provides regional leadership to foster a better understanding of and response to the changing dynamics of HIV epidemics
  • supports HIV/AIDS initiatives at the regional and national levels to expand coverage of interventions for those at high risk of HIV exposure
  • builds capacity to increase regional learning

Scaling Up the Continuum of Care in the Asia-Pacific Region

NOVEMBER 2007 — The continuum of care (CoC) is a strategy developed in the Asia-Pacific region to organize and provide care, treatment, and support services. Scaling Up the Continuum of Care for People Living with HIV: A Toolkit for Implementers will help planners and managers to create networks that link HIV care, treatment, and support services in ways that respond to unique needs.
